The Unbound 40 comes from Maine-headquartered Hyperlite Mountain Gear. Forty liters in the body, useful pockets outside, and a silhouette that asks the packing-table question without raising its voice: are you taking all of that? It belongs to the interval between a daypack and a full expedition, provided your list has learned some restraint.
